House of Bamboo

I'm not sure why its taken me this long to post about my amazing trip to the Coachella music festival. Myself, Cassie and Eva boarded a plane Thursday morning after a bit of a time crunch in security (thank you to the nice people who let us cut in line, thereby saving our trip) and after a glass of wine and some TV watching on the plane we were there, at LAX, aka the creepiest airport of all time. From there, we made our way to the the Hertz car rental place, where it took us about 2 hours to rent a car because all of the kiosks were broken and the Hertz people are the worst. So after that we were finally on our way. Once we got out of LA, we made our way to the Coachella Valley, which is so beautiful, fields of wind turbines with a 360 degree vista of beautiful snow capped mountains. After almost 3 hours of driving we made our way to Tranquility Drive to our beautiful Temple of Glowsticks, where about 20 of our new best friends were waiting. The next three days were a blur of music, friends, fun, and wacky weather. It was colder than normal (so I'm told) during the first two days and very chilly at night, but the third day was beautiful. Some highlights of the weekend were Radiohead, M83, the glowstick rain at Justice, the 2pac hologram, the Lacoste pool party, the shrine meeting place, the Heineken Tent and the general merriment. Also, having my dear friend from college Clarke along for the ride made it very memorable (and made for a lot of pretty hair).

The days following Coachella were very hard to endue. Not waking up in a room with 5 other people, or walking outside to see the giant inflatable pool, or having morning margaritas was not fun.

Now lets talk Coachella fashion, apparently butt cheeks are big this year? I don't know what makes girls (and some very ballsy boys) think that the butt cheek is an attractive part of the body to show off, but its not.  It really just is not. But for the most part the fashion was just typical California style, a mix between hippie and hipster, typical music festival costumes and not so typical costumes. Much like my 2 favorite siblings (and cassie).

Only one year until round 2...thank god I have Hangout Festival to hold me over.
