Today has been a big day in my world. First, Adele is preggo, which will undoubtedly lead to an awesome, totally inspired album that is overplayed and reproduced until I eventually hate it. Second, TomKat broke up. This one was pretty big for me, although Enty (over on his website) has been warning us about this for days. I'm not sure what it is about Tom Cruise that makes me hope for the best with him, although I know he's a freaking weirdo, and Scientology scares the shit out of me. (The fact that spell check just made me make that a proper noun makes me want to vomit, because it is neither proper nor a noun, because it's not real). I guess what really makes me sad about this is poor little Joey Potter, that too tall girl from the wrong side of the creek. Now, most of you know I might actually be the biggest Dawson's Creek fan of all time, I can't watch an episode without crying and calling my best friend Lindsay and talking about how we feel about what Joey is going through. (I digress)
I think she's a pretty tough cookie, but I don't think she got what she paid for in this marriage. It is my theory that when they got together yes, Katie was probably super starstruck and "in love" but after she realized some of his "shortcomings" (pun!) she wanted to get out of there. However, this marriage was a match made in PR heaven. Katie was probably told she would get some big name roles in return for staying with and marrying Cruise, so that he wouldn't be outed as a homosexual (come on, you all know it). So, yes, Tom got a 5 year break without much gay speculation and Katie got what? Booted from The Dark Knight Rises? Raw deal.
So they were married for 5 years and now she's asking for sole custody, which is probably a good move for Suri, so she doesn't turn out like Tom Cruises other, less attractive and stylish (yes, I know they are adopted) kids. I'm not sure what happens matters much to Suri in the long run, as she has probably already filed papers to be an emancipated minor at 5 years old. But you have to wonder, after 5 years, this seemingly abrupt split has to come from somewhere. What did he do? What did the "church" of scientology (I'm not correcting that) do?
Please give us a tell all book Josephine.

(and, yes, I cried when I watched this...at the office)
